25-year-old designer Keith Herron of Advsry presented his 5th New York Fashion Week show this season. The opening look set the tone: a horned tweed hat paired with a patchwork tweed poncho, faux fur gloves, and tailored tan trousers. Throughout the show, oversized, whimsical tweed hats resurfaced in various forms, reinforcing the collection’s narrative. One standout moment featured a vivid green tweed suit, complete with an elongated jacket and a dramatic, wide-brimmed hat to match.

“I wanted to explore different versions of what that character could look like, so the collection itself becomes an embodiment of that persona,” Heron explains of how he channeled the same larger-than-life energy that Jamiroquai did into the headwear. In other words, he infused the collection with a sense of theatricality and spirit.

Toward the finale, a trio of structured tweed dresses commanded attention, each anchored by sculptural, circular skirts that felt both architectural and romantic. A mini version arrived in vibrant green, followed by a white iteration with delicate ruffles peeking through a thigh-high slit. The show closed with a sweeping black design, its voluminous hem grazing the models’ ankles as it moved down the runway.

For Heron, the statement extended beyond silhouette. “As Black Americans, we stand for something; we have something that we want to communicate to the world,” he shares with ESSENCE. “Whenever I get the opportunity to do so, I understand what that means for others who want to do the same.”
