‘Glee’ Star Naya Rivera Sent Photo To Family Shortly Before Lake Disappearance

Sunday marked day five in the continued search for Glee actress Naya Rivera, who disappeared last week in California’s Lake Piru after her 4-year-old son was found on the boat alone.

CBS reported Monday that Robert Inglis of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Search & Rescue Team said the 33-year-old actress sent a picture to a family member of her son, Josey, that pictured him in front of a cove. That pic may provide clues of her July 8 disappearance.

US Weekly first reported the information about the photo.

“We found where that cove was,” Inglis told the magazine.

In today’s search for Naya Rivera, cabins and outbuildings in the surrounding area will be checked once again, as well as the shoreline. This has been part of the ongoing search effort since her disappearance on Wednesday afternoon. Boat crews continue to scan the lake.

Still, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office continues to keep the general public updated on the status of the search — even as far as taking recommendations from fans and followers on where to widen their efforts.

“In today’s search for Naya Rivera, cabins and outbuildings in the surrounding area will be checked once again, as well as the shoreline,” the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office tweeted on Sunday. “This has been part of the ongoing search effort since her disappearance on Wednesday afternoon. Boat crews continue to scan the lake.”

Authorities said last Thursday they believed Rivera drowned in the lake. The actress’ son told investigators that he and his mother went swimming. The 4-year-old claimed he got back on the boat, but “his mom never made it out of the water,” Sheriff’s Sgt. Kevin Donoghue said.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said on Twitter  that the lake is closed and people should not try to conduct their own searches around the area because of the rough terrain and other potentially dangerous factors.

“For those intent on searching for Naya Rivera on your own, 1. The lake is closed. 2. Temps are already in the 90’s. 3. The terrain around the lake is very steep and rugged. Our teams are well equipped and highly trained. We don’t want to have to rescue you,” the tweet read.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced that the search would continue Monday morning.
