Singer Melanie Fiona is officially a married woman after having to postpone her wedding plans three times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As soon as we decided we were [marrying] in 2020, we planned—fast and furious,” Fiona told The Knot. “We locked in our wedding planner in January and we started moving full steam ahead… and then COVID happened.”
The couple had initially planned to marry in a destination wedding in Italy but that became impossible.
After having to move their wedding date two more times, Fiona and her longtime love, fellow singer Jared Cotter, decided they couldn’t wait any longer to make it official.
“Anything is Possible… If you’re willing to adjust your perspective,” the happy bride shared on Instagram. “We had to postpone our wedding three times this year. We had to accept that a full ceremony with our loved ones could not be possible until 2021. But we also knew we wanted to be married this year. So, we made it happen!!! We took what was in our control and saw it through. On 12-12-2020, I married my best friend, my partner, my twin flame, in the most perfectly possible way.”

Fiona, 37, continued with an inspiring message for fans: “Remember, things might not look the way you envisioned, but if you’re willing to surrender… to detach from your ideals and expectations, you can joyfully find your way back to the intention… The reason you started in the first place,” Fiona continued. “What you feel, what you see, here, is a reflection of that intention Love. Joy. Friendship. Respect. Manifestation. Commitment. Growth.”
The couple shared a video of their elopement on social media which shows them getting ready at home, heading to the courthouse and then posing for their wedding photos along the way.

The Grammy-winning singer accepted a marriage proposal from then-boyfriend Cotter on Valentine’s Day 2018. After announcing the news, Fiona shared photos from a shoot in which Cotter got down on one knee to surprise her with a ring. The couple share a son together, Cameron.
“That time You and Cam planned a WHOLE FAKE FAMILY PHOTO SHOOT, as a disguise to capture my forever in the making,” Fiona captioned the sweet proposal photo series at the time.
