Monday’s Campaign Round-Up, 3.30.26: Democrats fare well in latest generic ballot poll

Today’s installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.

* With control of the House on the line in the fall, the latest national poll from Quinnipiac University found Democrats with a double-digit lead over Republicans on the congressional generic ballot, 51% to 40%.

* Speaking of surveys, Donald Trump told reporters on Sunday night that his support among Hispanic voters has improved. There’s evidence to the contrary: The latest Fox News poll found the president’s approval rating about Hispanic voters dropping from 48% late last year to 28% now.

* Following up on an uncalled race from last week, a Democratic candidate, Navy veteran Brian Nathan, managed to flip a state Senate seat in the Tampa Bay area, narrowing the GOP majority in Florida’s upper chamber.

* With early voting underway in Virginia, where voters will decide on whether to advance a new congressional map that would benefit Democrats, turnout is already higher than it was during last year’s gubernatorial race. Election Day in the commonwealth is April 21.

* In Utah, a Republican-led initiative to repeal the state’s anti-gerrymandering law failed to make this year’s ballot, leaving Democrats well positioned to picked up a House seat in Utah in November.

* In New Hampshire’s Republican Senate primary, GOP leaders have already rallied behind former Sen. John Sununu, even as his intraparty rival, former Sen. Scott Brown, told Semafor last week that he’s remaining in the race anyway.

* And as March comes to an end, election watchers will have plenty to follow in April, and Bolts put together a handy overview of the contests worth keeping an eye on. Helping lead the pack is next week’s state Supreme Court election in Wisconsin.
