Weddings are always special. But a wedding where both of your childhood friends are getting married, in one of your favorite cities, is a next-level tear jerker!
Max has been one of my best friends since second grade and Dominique and I played soccer together growing up. When I heard, in recent years, that they were dating, you can imagine my excitement! Fast forward to last year, when they invited me to their wedding, I was over the moon. And the location for the wedding weekend being NOLA had me even more elated, especially given that New Orleans is starting to feel something like a second home, thanks to Essence Festival. That said, any excuse to go there, I will take!

And with such a momentous occasion, of course, came questions about what I should wear. The dress code was semi-formal and, naturally, colorful, to embody the New Orleans spirit. I wanted something that aligned with this theme, and would ensure that I wouldn’t get too hot in the southern heat. After all, it was an outdoor wedding, in the garden area of The New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, followed by an unforgettable Second Line Parade through the streets.

I knew I wanted the dress to be something that would flow through the wind during the parade—almost giving Beyoncé’ “Hold Up” music video, since it was also shot in New Orleans’ iconic French Quarter. When I came across the PatBo’s stunning Chiffon Daydream Plunge Gown in green, I knew it was perfect for the occasion. The color also made me think of NOLA’s finest, Princess Tiana, from Princess and the Frog—one of my, my sister, and my nieces’ favorite movies.
In other words, I was living my best princess life for the wedding, thanks to the length and elegant flowiness of the dress. What’s more? I wasn’t too hot at all. The almost sheer, chiffon fabric was extremely breathable. Additionally it is a backless dress so that also helped when it came to cooling down.

So, if you have a summer wedding coming up, and you, too, are looking for something both breathable and vibrant, go for this dreamy dress, or peruse the rest of PatBo’s offerings. You won’t be disappointed.
