DHS closes office of immigration detention watchdog

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed it has shut down an office dedicated to serving as a watchdog for those in immigration detention. The Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman (OIDO) is now archived on the DHS website, closing an office where people could report misconduct, excessive force or other violations of a migrant’s rights….
