Dear ESSIES,

Over the past year, we have been booked and busy.

We’ve been making sure EFOC 2026 delivers on ESSENCE’s values and meets the standards our community deserves and expects from us. We are grateful for your passion, your feedback, and your unwavering loyalty—and we are committed to honoring it. Not with words; with action.

EFOC has always been more than a festival. For over 30 years, it has been a homecoming. A gathering of Black women, Black families, Black communities—from New Orleans, from across Louisiana and from across the country—who come because they trust that ESSENCE will show up for them. That trust is not something we take lightly. It is something we strive to earn, every year, in every decision we make.

So here is what we’ve been up to.

We centered Black women in everything.

Not as a talking point, but as a commitment. Every decision we made—from storytelling to programming to partnerships—started with one question: Does this center the women this Festival was built for? If the answer was no, we went back to the drawing board.

We fixed the sound.

You told us. We heard it. Consider it handled.

We announced the lineup earlier and we brought some heavy hitters.

We know you plan around this. You take time off work, book travel, coordinate with your people. You deserve to know what you’re coming to. We’ve curated what we believe will be one of the most iconic and culturally significant EFOC lineups to date. We did not rush it. We did not compromise it. We delivered it on time.

We tightened the experience.

Look forward to tighter curations across experiences, conversations, performances and activations. The introduction of Culture Curators means dedicated guides to help elevate key moments throughout the Festival. Every touchpoint is sharpened to respect your time and reward your presence.

We built something new.

The Creator & Podcast Festival is here—expanding how culture, storytelling and influence come together. The future of Black media is not just on stages. It is in the conversations, the content and the voices shaping what’s next. We made space for all of it.

We focused the dollars.

The We Love Us platform launched with more than 100 Black-owned businesses. Spending Black is not a trend for us—it is infrastructure.

We reimagined the magazine.

ESSENCE Magazine has been reimagined into a premium, collectible publication that celebrates the depth, beauty, and power of our stories in a format worthy of them.

We redefined what it means to be an ESSIE.

ESSIE membership benefits have been upgraded for our loyal, paying subscribers. It now features exclusive Festival discounts, first access to ESSENCE experiences year-round, and early entry into the moments that matter most.

And we invested in Black. For real.

In 2025 alone:

•       5 book deals for ESSENCE Authors collaborators

•       3 brand partnership deals for Black creators

•       $150,000 in small business grants and investments

•       10,000 pounds of food distributed to shelters

•       3,000 local jobs created in New Orleans

That was just last year. We’re not done.

ESSENCE has been here for 56 years because this community kept showing up. We intend to be here for 56 more—and we will keep showing you why.

EFOC 2026 is the result of everything we’ve been building. Every investment, every fix, every decision made to meet—and exceed—the standard this community set. It is going to show.

Thank you for growing with us, building with us, and believing in what ESSENCE represents. The future we are creating belongs to all of us.

With gratitude,

Your ESSENCE Family
