Vivica A. Fox is a chameleon whose style perfectly accompanies her legendary roles. In Set It Off (1996) she was a red-manicured bank teller-turned-robber. In Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003) she doubled as a mother and cutthroat assassin in sweat-drenched hair and a tracksuit. And, in her latest film Is God Is (2026), she transformed into an avenged burn victim with blonde braids.
Her style has long played its part in her metamorphic roles, but the same can be said about her real life evolution. In the early 1990s, she donned bold lipstick, sculpted updos, and gowns full of appliqué like at the 17th Annual Emmy Awards. By the 2000s, her style turned more playful and textured. At the Ali Los Angeles Premiere, for example, she paired motocross heels with a fur coat, top hat, and metallic lips. Then, for Kimora Lee’s 2005 Baby Phat show, a leopard-print mini dress with quadruple hoop earrings.
In the 2010s, business casual, Ed Hardy, and pompadours were all the rage. At the Men in Black 3 premiere after-party in 2012, she wore a pixie cut with a white suit and matching bra peaking through. Four years later, she attended the ELLE Women in Hollywood Awards in her natural coily afro and a trendy vamp lip. By the 2020s, her style evolved into more bold assertions, like a red lip, top knot, and multi-colored sheer dress at LaQuan Smith’s show in 2023.
