FX has unveiled the official trailer for The Drop: A Snowfall Saga, bringing Gail Bean and Isaiah John back to the world of Snowfall for its next chapter.
Set in 1990s Los Angeles, the drama catches up with Wanda Bell and Leon Simmons as both try to build lives beyond the devastation left by the crack epidemic. For Wanda, the city’s emerging West Coast rap scene presents a possible future. She sets her sights on the music business and begins assembling artists she believes can make an impact.
Her pursuit leads her to Darryl “DG” Grant, played by Brandon Mychal Smith, a former drug dealer who now runs a record label. Wanda lands an internship with him, putting her closer to the business she hopes to enter. Leon, meanwhile, has taken a different path. Determined to leave his former life behind, he operates a free legal clinic and finds himself increasingly at odds with Wanda’s ambitions.
Asante Blackk and Peyton Alex Smith join the cast as Wanda’s cousins Lamar and James Kinsey. Rapper Buddy plays Artillery, a local artist whose legal troubles complicate Wanda’s plans.
The series extends the story established in Snowfall, which concluded its six-season run in 2023. Malcolm Spellman serves as an executive producer alongside Dave Andron. Thomas Schlamme and Julie DeJoie are also executive producers, with FX Productions producing the series.
The Drop: A Snowfall Saga premieres September 8 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on FX and Hulu.
