The House Oversight Committee on Wednesday released a transcript of its closed-door interview with former Barclays CEO Jes Staley, conducted last month.

The committee interviewed Staley as part of its review of the federal investigations into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his convicted co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell. Staley — who has denied wrongdoing and said he had no knowledge of Epstein’s crimes — met the late financier around 2000, court records suggest. His name appears thousands of times in the millions of Epstein-related documents the Justice Department released since last December, including notes in which he called his friendship with Epstein “profound” and Epstein called him “family.”

Staley resigned from Barclays in 2021 amidst British regulators’ investigation into his ties to Epstein.

The 200-page transcript features a committee staffer telling Staley plainly, “we have credible information that you have aggressively, even violently, sexually assaulted multiple women connected to Mr. Epstein.”

Among the women Staley was asked about was an unidentified woman referenced in a series of 2010 emails. On July 9 of that year, Staley asked Epstein in a now-infamous email to “say hi to Snow White,” referencing a “fun” event or social encounter. Epstein responded by asking which character Staley would like next.

While that email has been reported on extensively, the committee also asked Staley about seemingly related communications between the woman and Epstein, including a June 2010 email in which Epstein directed her to purchase a Snow White costume. In another email, sent the day after Staley’s “Snow White” reference, the woman said that Snow White had sex twice as soon as she put on the costume. Staley denied any sexual encounter with that woman and said he had no knowledge of any directive Epstein may have given her.

In the transcript, Staley also recounts what he characterized as a consensual sexual encounter with someone who he described as “an assistant to Epstein” around 2009 or 2010, which he previously testified about. He says the woman was in her 20s or 30s, that the encounter occurred at her New York City apartment and that he “assumed” Epstein did not instruct the woman to have sex with him. According to the transcript, the woman later sued Epstein for sexual abuse and settled with his estate, but reserved the right to pursue legal action against Staley — a fact he said he was unaware of.

The document also discusses his meetings with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, whom Staley said he spent time with on his trips to London — once even taking a taxi to visit Buckingham Palace. Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his titles last year over his ties to Epstein and arrested earlier this year in the U.K. on suspicion of misconduct in public office related to his friendship with Epstein. Mountbatten-Windsor has repeatedly denied wrongdoing.

One email referenced by the committee features Epstein asking Mountbatten-Windsor to “find time to show Jes around with [redacted].” After Mountbatten-Windsor asked Epstein who the redacted person is, Epstein replied, “A great friend of mine, very pretty. She is my future ex-wife.” According to the committee, the woman was from Eastern Europe, and Staley denied meeting her when asked about her.

The committee has also released transcripts from its interviews with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and Epstein’s former personal assistant Sarah Kellen, among others.
