Today’s installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.

* On the heels of a convoluted primary process in Wisconsin, the latest Marquette Law School Poll found Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley tied with far-right Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany among registered voters. The same poll, however, showed the Democrat leading the congressman, 49% to 44%, among likely voters.

The data suggests Crowley has largely succeeded in consolidating Democratic support following his unexpected primary victory earlier this month against Francesca Hong. Gov. Tony Evers, the Democratic incumbent who backed Crowley, is term-limited and cannot run again.

* Though New Hampshire’s Senate race hasn’t generated a ton of national attention, two weeks before the Granite State’s primaries, a new University of New Hampshire poll is likely to raise some eyebrows. Not only did the survey show Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas with a shrining advantage against his primary rival, democratic socialist Karishma Manzur, but it also showed Pappas narrowly trailing former Republican Sen. John Sununu in a hypothetical general election match-up.

If this seat were to flip from blue to red, the odds of Democrats winning back the Senate would effectively disappear.

* In Georgia’s Senate race, The Washington Post reported that a former staffer for Republican Rep. Mike Collins shared images via social media earlier this summer “of a swastika and one that depicts himself in Ku Klux Klan robes.” The article added that this follows “other controversial actions and rhetoric from former Collins staffers and other Collins associates that have dogged his Senate campaign.”

* In Iowa’s closely watched statewide races, a new Suffolk University poll found Democratic state Auditor Rob Sand leading Republican businessman Zach Lahn in the state’s gubernatorial race, 48% to 44%.

The news was a little better for the GOP in Iowa’s Senate race, with the same poll showing Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson ahead of Democratic state Rep. Josh Turek, 45% to 41%.

* Speaking of Sand’s candidacy in Iowa, Politico asked the gubernatorial candidate whether he’d want Joe Biden or Kamala Harris to campaign for him.

“No thanks,” he replied. “Let’s move on. We need some new leadership.”

* In Maine, Republican nominee Bobby Charles told members of a Maine Young Republicans chapter that he intends to ask the Department of Homeland Security to send U.S. marshals and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to polling places in the state. Charles went on to describe White House border czar Tom Homan as “an awesome guy” and a “friend.”

* And one day after South Carolina’s Republican Senate runoff primary, Donald Trump took the opportunity to taunt Rep. Ralph Norman one more time: The president published an item to his social media platform in which he said Norman “had the look of a good Congressman (Not great, but good), but ruined his career when he endorsed Nikki Haley” in the 2020 race.

The missive suggested Trump’s support for appointed Sen. Darline Graham was motivated in part as revenge for Norman endorsing his home state’s former governor six years ago.
