‘That’s bad’: Joe Scarborough stunned by ‘devastating’ new Trump poll

MS NOW’s Joe Scarborough shared some “devastating” new poll numbers for Donald Trump, which he warned show Republicans may be starting to break from the president with less than two months to go until the midterm elections.

According to the latest Fox News poll, 55% of voters said they trust Democrats more than Republicans to handle inflation and prices. The poll also found that 63% of voters believe the Trump administration has made the economy worse, including 26% of Republicans surveyed. And only 8% of those surveyed were enthusiastic about how the government is working, 23% were satisfied and 68% were unhappy.

“That’s crazy,” Scarborough said on Friday before asking the “Morning Joe” panel, “Have you seen numbers like this?”

The MS NOW host noted it was a “massive swing” from Republicans’ polling “not even two years ago” during Trump’s campaign to retake the White House. A 2024 YouGov survey found that just 23% of voters believed Democrats did a better job at handling inflation compared to Republicans.

“I went to University of Alabama, so I can’t do geometry or whatever math would require,” he said, “but that’s a lot. That’s bad.”

According to Scarborough, the party’s sinking poll numbers show that even Trump’s base has grown skeptical of the president and his policies amid a continuing war with Iran and economic strain here at home. As Scarborough noted, the price of diesel has doubled since last year, skyrocketing to $6.29 per gallon from $3.74 a year ago, according to Energy Information Administration data.

And as a result, Scarborough said, “We’re starting to see Republicans break.”
