Rep. Jamie Raskin, who is poised to become chair of the House Judiciary Committee, told MS NOW that President Donald Trump’s attorney general, Todd Blanche, could face impeachment hearings when Democrats take back the gavel in January. The Maryland Democrat said that under Blanche’s leadership, the Department of Justice has become a “Department of Injustice.”

Speaking on MS NOW’s postmidterms primetime special Wednesday, Raskin said voters he met on the campaign trail repeatedly expressed concern about the DOJ’s “constant interference in the election.”

“I would always say, in the final analysis, that our best insurance policy against a stolen election is a landslide election,” he added. “And the voters, the American people, delivered a landslide repudiation of all the lawlessness and corruption.”

With Democrats set to take control of the House, Raskin vowed to investigate Blanche, who previously served as one of the president’s personal attorneys, and his conduct. The House Judiciary Committee is typically the panel responsible for investigating and drafting formal articles of impeachment.

The Democrat pointed to the department’s election interference efforts, Blanche’s inaction in the Jeffrey Epstein case and what he described as the DOJ’s pursuit of the president’s perceived political enemies, including several of Raskin’s Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate.

“Look at all of the fraudulent prosecutions that they’ve engaged in against people like James Comey, like Letitia James, like Adam Schiff, like Mark Kelly, like Maggie Goodlander and Jason Crow, and on and on,” he told MS NOW.

Raskin said those cases reflected a broader pattern under Blanche’s leadership.

“The Department of Justice has clearly become a Department of Injustice — an instrument of revenge, political revenge for the president,” he said.

Raskin argued that Blanche had put his loyalty to Trump ahead of his responsibilities serving the American public, which could be grounds for impeachment.

“This attorney general has been doing nothing other than acting in his old capacity as a personal criminal defense attorney to Donald Trump,” he said.
