Airplane collides with truck at New York’s LaGuardia Airport

An Air Canada plane has collided with a Port Authority fire rescue truck upon landing on Runway 4 of the international airport late Sunday night.

At the time the jet was landing, the emergency vehicle was crossing the runway, after receiving clearance from the control center. The truck was quickly being asked to stop, though it’s unclear if the aircraft had already been cleared to land.

About a dozen emergency vehicles have been deployed in response to the collision, though no reports have been made about the specific number of passengers injured.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for all planes at LaGuardia until 0530 GMT, and planes have been diverted to other airports or returned to their point of origin after the crash. No official statement has been made yet regarding the incident.

This is a developing story.
