In light of COVID-19, the film industry has adapted to the unprecedented pandemic. Skipping the traditional movie theatre premier, films are being brought directly to the consumer. Launching on December 25, Disney and Pixar will launch ‘SOUL’ featuring Pixar’s first-ever Black lead character, Joe Gardner. The film was scheduled to be released this summer however the pandemic postponed the animation to December, premiering on Disney Plus – the company’s app that is home to its own visual films and television shows.

Ahead of the highly-anticipated and long overdue release, Pixar collaborated with multicultural powerhouse HUE Unlimited to bring Joe and company to life through a curated collection of wearable art pieces. Together, the conglomerates tapped 4 emerging Black artist – Corey Van Lew, Arrington Porter, Bianca Pasterl, and Bee Harris to lead their creative direction in crafting original inspired-by artwork.  “As a part of the next generation of creatives, we deeply understand that authenticity is incredibly important to audiences,” says Michael Watson II of HUE Unlimited. “So being able to curate a collection of products that represents Black voices overall is a dream come true.”

Launching today, fans of the film will be able to support the next generation of artists and customers can shop the entire collection featured on the Pixar SOUL shop on Amazon. “Throughout the film, Joe learns some very valuable lessons on his journey, so I wanted to express the connection between colors, characters and stories in every detail,” exclaimed Bianca Pastel, one of the artist selected.
