Dr. Dre is officially a billionaire, according to Forbes most updated billionaires list. 

At 61 years old, the hip hop legend and entrepreneur joined the 2026 billionaires list with an estimated net worth of at least $1 billion, according to Forbes.

“Focus on your passion and the rest will follow, and that’s exactly what it is for me. Pouring my whole soul and self into my passion for hip hop led me on the >said while being honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2024. “I’ve been fortunate enough to make a living doing exactly what I love to do.”

Dr. Dre, born Andre Young, started his career in 1984, before becoming a founding member of N.W.A. The rap group — which also included Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren, and DJ Yella — helped define the sound of West Coast hip hop. Dre not only rapped but also produced with the group. When it disbanded, he made money moves to continue establishing his career in the music industry.

After N.W.A. and in 1996, Dr. Dre launched a record label, dubbed Aftermath Entertainment, under the umbrella of Interscope Records, founded and then owned by Jimmy Iovine. It has had everyone from Eminem (still with Aftermath Entertainment) to Kendrick Lamar (departed) on its roster. The label is still active and recently upgraded its studios.

Among his many entrepreneurial accomplishments, another key move Dr. Dre made on the road to becoming a billionaire? Creating Beats Electronics, including Beats by Dr. Dre, which he launched in partnership with Iovine. The two partners sold the brand to Apple in 2014 for a whopping $3 billion.
