Ella Mai is baaaaack. Following in the footsteps of her hit singles “Boo’d Up” and “Trip,” theGrammy-winning songstress is returning to the air waves just in time to give your playlist another much-needed song to put on repeat.
It’s been a whole two years since she dropped her self-titled debut album and now the “X-Factor” alum is ready to show how she’s grown with new music in the form of her latest single, “Not Another Love Song.”
Although the British singer says the track is about “falling in love, but not wanting to admit it,” the lyrics tell a slightly different story.
With an energy boasting of heavy “I can do bad by myself” vibes, the 25-year-old songstress makes it crystal clear to bae that she’s not here for any more relationship drama. “This drama is getting old, need to let it go,” she sings. “Different episode, same old show.”

“Not Another Love Song” is set to be released on Oct. 2, but eager fans can pre-save the song now. Mai co-wrote the track with Varren Wade and it was produced by Boi-1da, Jahaan Sweet and The Rascals. “Thank you for your patience. We back baby,” she captioned an Instagram post announcing the song’s release date.
Expect to see the “Shot Clock” singer in Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Vol. 2 Show, alongside Lizzo, Big Sean, Miguel, Bad Bunny and more on Amazon Prime. Since the song drops the same day as the Fenty show, let’s keep our fingers crossed that Mai gets time to perform both songs from her first album and give fans a taste of what’s to come with a performance of“Not Another Love Song.”
