Black love is heading to Italy, and ESSENCE has an exclusive look for You, Me & Tuscany, the upcoming romantic comedy executive produced by Will Packer, directed by Kat Coiro, and starring Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page.

In the video, Packer talks about what drew him to the film and why he wanted to back it as a producer. Coming off a run of crowd-pleasing hits like Girls Trip, Think Like a Man, This Christmas, and more, he positions You, Me & Tuscany as a feel-good romance that audiences have been asking for; something funny, flirty, and built for the big screen. Footage also highlights the fantasy of picking up and starting over somewhere different, making this film tailor-made for the perfect outing with your friend group.

“Look, we are living in a world right now where people are stressed, they’re divided, they’re overwhelmed,” Packer said. “I’ve always believed, and frankly built my entire career on, that Black joy is powerful. Black love is powerful. And when you see yourself on screen, fully realized, laughing, falling in love, living… that does something incredible to your spirit.”

The film follows Anna (Bailey) after she loses her house-sitting job and housing at the same time. A chance encounter with Matteo, an Italian man with an empty villa in Tuscany, pushes her to travel to Italy against the advice of her best friend, Claire (Aziza Scott). Anna’s plan is simple; crash at the villa for one night. It immediately goes sideways when Matteo’s mother, Gabriella, shows up unexpectedly and assumes Anna is her son’s fiancée, which is where Michael—played by Page—comes into play.

Above, Page speaks about stepping into the story and building the on-screen connection with Bailey, teasing the push-and-pull that sparks once Michael arrives and starts asking the right questions. Shot on location in the Italian countryside, the film also features Nia Vardalos and Italian screen icon Isabella Ferrari, rounding out an international ensemble that plays into the movie’s mix of comedy and romance.

With the talent of Bailey and Page leading the way, and Packer behind the scenes, this highly-anticipated film is aiming to deliver a warm, luxurious escape that centers Black love and the beautiful backdrop of Italy.

You, Me & Tuscany opens in theaters April 10.
