Firefighters Finally Gain Upper Hand on Raging Nevada Wildfire

Firefighters are starting to make progress on the wildfire that’s still burning in Nevada and has destroyed dozens of homes and forced thousands to evacuate. It comes as new images have been released of some of the destruction and residents survey the damage to their homes and neighborhoods. Meanwhile, large swaths of the country are dealing with suffocating heat. NBC’s Liz Kreutz reports and TODAY’s Al Roker tracks the forecast.
