Is Obama’s call for Justice Department independence an impossible dream?

Former President Barack Obama suggested that the attorney general should not be the president’s “consigliere” and should instead be the “people’s lawyer”, in order to avoid the weaponization of the Justice Department, a problem that has been present in the Nixon and Trump administrations.
