Maria Bartiromo, a longtime Fox Business anchor who is close with President Donald Trump, is leaving Fox News Media after more than 12 years, the company announced Thursday.

“Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with FOX News Media,” the company said in a statement. “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 1/2 years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.”

Fox News Media did not explain her abrupt departure in its statement, which noted that the final episode of her Fox Business show “Mornings with Maria” aired Thursday morning. It also stated that her weekly Fox News show, “Sunday Morning Futures,” will be hosted by Jason Chaffetz on Sept. 6, and that a new host will be announced at a later date.

Neither Fox News Media nor Bartiromo immediately responded to MS NOW’s requests for comment.

Bartiromo was one of Fox News Media’s most recognized hosts, whose friendly coverage of the Trump administration has received praise from the president over the years. In 2020, he congratulated her on renewing her contract with the company, calling her a “great reporter” and suggesting he enjoyed “working” with her. Prior to joining Fox News Media, she worked for roughly 20 years at CNBC, which shares parent company Versant with MS NOW.

Speculation about her departure swirled online following Fox News’ announcement Thursday, with some wondering whether she would fill the role of White House press secretary after Karoline Leavitt left last month.

Vice President JD Vance seemed to wave off such rumors during a White House press briefing Thursday. When asked if she will be the next press secretary, he told reporters, “I don’t know, man. No, I don’t think so.”

“I just saw the news literally as I walked out,” Vance said. “I love Maria. I think she’s an amazing person, amazing talent. I don’t get involved in the personal drama of media stations.”

“I wish her all the best,” he added. “She’s a very, very dear friend.”

Hours later, Trump expressed shock about Bartiromo’s apparent ouster, calling her a “total professional” and a “true warrior.”

“I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business,” he wrote in a post on Truth Social, adding, “Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy. God bless you, Maria!”
