Tae Heckard And John Boyega Appear To Confirm Their Marriage

The rumors are true—actor John Boyega and model Tae Heckard are married! Back in May, we reported that the two may have quietly gotten hitched after noticing them sporting wedding bands and exclusively following one another on social media.

In recent Instagram posts, the actress confirmed that she is indeed a Mrs. and officially off the market.

One of the giveaway pictures that appeared in her latest carousel of photos shows half of Boyega’s face with the model’s reflection in his sunglasses. If those two images aren’t enough confirmation, there was also an endearing cartoon sketch of the couple included.

The Star Wars actor also dropped some banter in the comment section, making jokes about pounded yam, a popular Nigerian dish. Boyega is of Nigerian heritage—both of his parents hail from the West African country.

“So this is why you cook Pounded yam and egusi on Saturdays?? a tactical weapon of mass plan-canceling. I’m onto you lover,” he commented on the post, referencing a reel about where the 35 and up folks hang out (the answer was “home”). The British actor, 34, hasn’t yet made it to that age bracket, but Heckard, 48, has.

He’s also commented on other recent posts, joking about how she keeps them “in Walmart for 2+ hours,” which she replied she does because “i love watching you put all my shenannies in the cart. yum.”

Fans first speculated about their marital status in May when Heckard posted a dump of photos that featured a sparkly engagement ring and matching wedding band. She is still wearing said rings in her recent post, affirming that she’s currently in her wife era.

The two are private about their love life, so it’s hard to say when they first began a romantic connection, but they were first publicly spotted at Disneyland in April 2025.

Prior to becoming a husband, Boyega has been linked to former Love and Hip Hop stars Maggie Carrie from the New York franchise and Princess Love, previously of the Hollywood spinoff.

Boyega has always been vocal about his love for Black women and draws inspiration from his parents, who have been married for decades.

During a 2022 interview with GQ magazine, he shared insights into his dating preferences and relationship goals.

“I only date Black,” he said at the time, adding, “It’s about chemistry, personality, goals. Is there a synergy? Can I help you? Can you help me?”

Heckard has been in relationships with a few other notable figures, including rapper Nelly, NBA player Brandon Jennings, with whom she shares a child, and NFL player Stefon Diggs.
