For years, the bell was tolling for somebody else.

Other people being beaten in the streets. Other people suffering in detention. Other people watching their families torn apart.

Now Paul LePage, Maine’s former governor and a longtime champion of the White House’s immigration crackdown, says his son’s father-in-law faces deportation despite having a work permit.

“That’s not right,” LePage told reporters. 

Of course it’s not right, Governor. Good for you to finally notice.

It’s too bad so many had to suffer before the bell tolled for you and other champions of MAGA’s cruel regime.

Be sure that the bell will also toll for those masked ICE officers, detention center guards, and administration officials who keep breaking the law and shredding the Constitution with their illegal immigration policies.

Donald Trump’s time in the White House will end and these apparatchiks will be held responsible for every innocent immigrant they beat, every American they killed, and every Constitution right they breached.

Donald Trump is not the law.

Stephen Miller is not the law.

Richard Nixon famously claimed that “when the president does it,” it is not illegal. 

Nixon may not have seen the inside of a prison cell. But his men did. 

So to every ICE agent hiding behind a mask: Be careful. Follow the law. Uphold the Constitution.

Administrations come and go. And the masks you are hiding behind now will someday come off.

The tide will eventually go out, and those abusing immigrants and Americans’ constitutional rights will be left legally naked, with no one in the White House to protect them.

Justice will be served and the bell will toll for thee.

New ruling reverses Trump’s ban on news outlets

The federal judge’s order that the White House must immediately restore access for CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, has been enacted, but not before the Trump administration initially defied the order.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly had issued a 14‑day temporary restraining order Thursday morning, finding the outlets were likely to succeed on their due‑process claim because they received no notice or opportunity to respond before their press passes were revoked.

Kelly rejected the administration’s argument that the ban was motivated by national security concerns.

Trump blasted his judicial nominee as “totally disloyal” on social media before and said he expected to lose, adding “as usual, we’ll go for appeal.”

Attorney Theodore Boutrous said Wednesday that the president “keeps proving our point” through his own comments, calling him “literally our lead witness.”
