I have dealt with no less than 10 million eczema breakouts around my eyes since about 2017. So it should come as no surprise that I’ve pretty much given up on all forms of eye makeup—minus mascara. I was fine with it, honestly. Fluttery lashes and a red lip became my signature look. That was it for me! I wasn’t really interested in incorporating much else, aside from maybe a few lip color. Then Fenty had to go and send me the new Fine Linez Precision Gel Eyeliner, which made me rethink everything.
There was something about these liners, whether it be the packaging, the clean-up tip, or just seeing Rihanna wear them herself, that made me want to give eyeliner another chance. So I did. Carefully holding the skin around my eye taut, I lined from just under my water line, to the lash line, not missing a single corner, then topped the look with the brand’s Hella Thicc Volumizing Mascara on my eyelashes. I went over the liner with the clean-up tip to make the finished look all the more precise.
I planned to wear a red lip with it, but since I wasn’t used to doing heavier eye makeup with a bold lip, at first I believed it may be “too much.” But just when I was about to put my favorite red lipstick away, I thought to myself, “The world is burning. There’s no such thing as being ‘too much’ anymore!” and swiped some on. The end result was stunning.
While my signature mascara-with-a-red-lip will always be my go-to look (at least for now), Fenty Beauty’s Fine Linez Precision Gel Eyeliner has made me want to become more expressive with eye makeup again. And, as long as my eczema stays away, then let the makeup play begin.
