The Empties Edit: YSL Beauty Cream Lifted Glow Cream Blush

I’ll always be obsessed with blush. Especially blushes that are cream, and make my dry skin look nice and hydrated, and dewy.

YSL Beauty’s newest one, YSL Beauty Make Me Blush Cream Lifted Glow Cream Blush, which launches August 22nd, embodies just this. I got to test it out in late July during YSL’s press trip in Montauk at Gurney’s Resort. The day trip started with a massage at the spa. Following this, I laid by the beach for hours, just soaking up the sun and moments of rare stillness. Afterwards, I made my way to my room to shower and freshen up ahead of a makeup appointment with one of my favorite makeup artists, and people in general, J. Brandon Correa (AKA GlossBossJ).

The look he created on me was a mix of beachy and sunkissed, and sultry–perfect for the evening dinner that lay ahead. Think: the perfect base, a little bronzer, and a subtle smoky eye. But, what really took the look to the next level, aside from the ultimate shade match, of course, was the blush. Not only did he use this new one on me, but he layered it on top of the powder blush version of the product. Typically, I’m used to doing things the other way around. But it was really cool to see this new technique utilized.

In addition to it having incredible pigment and color pay-off—in shades Hot Mauve, Raspberry Glaze, Toffee Temptation, Nude Lavalliere, Peachy Nude, and Strawberry Seduction—it is also super hydrating. This is, in large part, due to the rosehip fruit extract in the formula, which comes from the Ourika Community Gardens in Morocco.

Although I probably won’t be able to do my makeup as well as J. Brandon did, the final look has me very excited to test out this new upcoming launch for myself.
