Black women deserve silver spoons, and The Lip Bar’s latest launch is serving luxury by the spoonful. Silver Spoon Lip Serum pairs a buttery, high-shine formula with an elevated glass bottle and spoon-like metal applicator. “Silver Spoon Lip Serum is one of the most luxurious products we’ve ever launched,” The Lip Bar founder Melissa Butler says. “We wanted everything—the formula, the packaging, and the shades—to feel elevated.”

And what better way to introduce Silver Spoon than at the glamorous New York cocktail bar, Le Bar Penelope? On National Lipstick Day, The Lip Bar partnered with social club Fortune & Forks to invite Black and brown tastemakers to dinner to test out the new lip serum. Housed in a glass bottle with a spoon-like metal wand applicator, the lip-serum-wearing guests sipped cocktails modeled after the shades (if they had a flavor.)
For example, Heiress, the collection’s rosy mauve shade, would taste like cranberries and Belvedere. Legacy, the berry plum shade, is as luxurious as an espresso martini with chocolate. Meanwhile, the shades Old Money nude and New Money pink tasted like mezcal and egg whites with Tajín rim.

Like dinner, the serums were served on a silver platter, offering their wash of color and buttery formula like a decadent dessert. Peppermint and other oils give the lips a cooling sensation, especially with the metal applicator, which feels like a gua sha lip massage.

Silver Spoon is a product The Lip Bar has been perfecting for months, making the final serum something you’re excited to pull out of your purse or display on your vanity. “Tastemakers are exactly the kind of women we envisioned wearing Silver Spoon,” Butler says of the Fortune & Forks members who attended the dinner. “[They’re] women who are always pursuing the best that life has to offer and being unapologetic about it.”
While Black women are often shamed for living a soft life, this product proves a silver spoon is exactly what we deserve. According to The Lip Bar, “[it’s] the perfect product for the ambitious women who need a lip product that works just as hard as they do.”

Silver Spoon Glossy Lip Serum will be available August 6th for $16 dollars at thelipbar.com.
