Paramount+ has released the official trailer for the second season of Average Joe, giving viewers another look at the unpredictable path awaiting Joe Washington when the series returns later this month.
Deon Cole reprises his role as Joe, whose attempt to protect those closest to him sends him far beyond home. Season 2 picks up after last season’s cliffhanger, with Joe and his inner circle traveling to Cape Town, South Africa after a new threat places his family in danger. What begins as an effort to uncover answers quickly grows into a fight for survival, with dangerous figures closing in from every direction.
Returning cast members Malcolm Barrett, Cynthia Kaye McWilliams, Michael Trucco and others join Cole for the new season. New additions include Katlego Lebogang, who portrays Imani, a woman tied to Joe’s family history, and Hakeem Kae-Kazim as Sipho, a formidable crime boss whose arrival raises the stakes for everyone involved.
Created by Robb Cullen, Average Joe blends comedy, crime and action while following an ordinary plumber whose life unravels after discovering his late father had hidden ties to organized crime. Season 1 quickly became one of BET+’s strongest-performing scripted originals before finding a new home on Paramount+.
The newly released trailer leans into bigger action sequences, international locations and fresh complications for Joe and his crew, while keeping the offbeat humor that helped the series build its audience. Questions left unresolved at the end of the first season appear ready to take on even greater significance as Joe confronts new enemies and unexpected revelations.
Average Joe returns to Paramount+ on August 19, debuting with two episodes before continuing with weekly releases every Wednesday.
