WATCH: Mahershala Ali Navigates Faith And Family In ‘Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother’ Trailer

Mahershala Ali returns to the big screen this fall in Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, and the newly released trailer offers a first look at the actor in a role balancing faith, family and survival under extraordinary circumstances.

Written and directed by Bassam Tariq, the film stars Ali as Latif, a contract killer whose life is thrown into turmoil after the sudden death of his wife. Left to care for his newborn and two other children, Latif is forced into a race through Houston while confronting both the people pursuing him and the convictions that have guided his life.

The project reunites Ali with Tariq after the filmmaker was previously attached to Marvel Studios’ Blade before exiting the project in 2022. Following that departure, Tariq developed an original story inspired by events in his own life, later bringing Ali aboard to lead the cast.

Alongside Ali, the film features John Cho, Abubakr Ali, Laith Nakli, Tramell Tillman, Tiffany Boone and Giancarlo Esposito. Adia and Jahleel Kamara also appear. Producers include Lucan Toh, Babak Anvari and Tariq, with Brian O’Neill serving as executive producer.

Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother marks Tariq’s second narrative feature following 2020’s Mogul Mowgli. Orion Pictures will release the film in select theaters on September 25 before expanding nationwide in October.
