Serayah Shares First Photos Of Son While Reflecting On Life After Joey Bada$$ Breakup

Singer Serayah McNeill ended her engagement to Joey Bada$$ with quite the bang toward the end of the summer. The artist recently shared an Instagram post ruminating on summer 2026 and this next chapter as she enters fall as a single woman and mother.

“This summer was beautiful, but it was hard too,” the caption began. “I had to be honest with myself about where I am, where I want to be, and the space in between.”

The singer shared her thoughts under several images that include her son with Joey Bada$$. Several fans pointed out that this is the first time she’s publicly shared images of him.

“Spending time in nature, with my hunna (that’s baby boy’s nickname), friends and family has made me feel so seen. I’m learning that becoming requires something from you. Breaking to rebuild. And for me, I’m learning to be comfortable with being uncomfortable 🤎”

The actress ended the post by joking that she had changed her hairstyle three times over the summer and asking followers which style they liked best.

To recap, McNeill ended her engagement to the rapper and actor after alleging that he had been unfaithful throughout the relationship. In August, the singer and actress shared a series of heated videos via Instagram stories in which she recounted the rapper’s ill treatment of her. This was followed by a public statement about the breakup. The 31-year-old’s friends also threw her a breakup party to commemorate her new chapter.

The undertone of the statement on their split suggested that she felt she was betraying herself by maintaining their relationship.

“There comes a point in a woman’s life when choosing herself is no longer an option, it becomes necessary,” McNeill wrote in the message she penned back in August. The new mom added that she loved “deeply” and believed “wholeheartedly” in the life they were building together for the past two-plus years.

Many fans were surprised—some, not so much—about the ending of the former couple’s relationship because they seemed solid on paper. Those in the not-so-surprised camp said they saw the infidelity coming considering Joey’s stance regarding polyamory in 2021. While he pivoted and said non-monogamy was a thing of the past during a joint 2025 ESSENCE interview, that is seemingly no longer the case based on McNeill’s cheating allegations.

The pair began dating in 2023 after meeting at a mutual friend’s birthday party on a boat. About two years later, in July 2025, the two got engaged. The engagement came just a couple of months after the former couple revealed they were expecting their first child together.
