President Donald Trump is set to record a podcast interview on Wednesday with Michael Cohen, his former personal lawyer and fixer who later became a persistent public critic and the star witness in the hush money trial that led to Trump’s conviction on 34 felony counts.
The interview is scheduled to air Thursday on Cohen’s podcast, according to a White House official granted anonymity to describe plans that have not been publicly announced.
The interview marks an extraordinary thaw in the relationship between the two men, whose rupture played out across court filings, congressional testimony and a tell-all book.
The New York Times reported that in the summer of 2025, the two men spoke at Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey — their first known contact in years — and that Cohen believed Trump might appear on his podcast.
Cohen spent more than a decade at Trump’s side, once saying that he would “take a bullet” for him. The relationship frayed in 2018 when the FBI seized Cohen’s cellphones and records from his home and office. Months later, he pleaded guilty to federal charges of tax evasion and campaign finance violations tied to payments made to silence women who said they had affairs with Trump.
“I regret doing things for him that I should not have,” Cohen said under oath. “To keep the loyalty and to do the things that he asked me to do, I violated my moral compass.”
During the trial, Cohen faced cross-examination questions from Todd Blanche, then Trump’s defense lawyer, who was sworn in as attorney general earlier this month. At one point under questioning, Blanche noted for the courtroom that Cohen had called him a “crying little s–––” on TikTok.
Trump posted on social media at the time: “If anyone is looking for a good lawyer, I would strongly suggest that you don’t retain the services of Michael Cohen!”
